City of Cadillac, MI Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project Completed the end of 2008.

City of Cadillac, MI Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project Completed the end of 2008.

Plant wide improvements including Tertiary Filtration upgrade and increased capacity. Stantec Consultants and the City of Cadillac selected Aqua-Aerobic's Cloth Media filter technology due to its compact footprint and proven performance. Three, 6-disk package filter units replaced the aging sand filters and were entirely retrofitted into the existing tertiary building. The upgrade increased the City's filtration average daily capacity from 2.0 MGD to 3.16 MGD and provides a peak capacity of 4.54 MGD with one filter out of service. The Cloth Media solution gave the City of Cadillac state-of-the-art performance while also reducing project costs through reutilization of their existing building.

The Cities of Flint and Holland  made significant upgrades to their solids handling processes using industry leading Seepex progressuve cavity pumps. In 2013, Seepex provided the City of Flint with demonstration cake pump based on a try it/buy it program to pump 25-35% cake from a belt conveyor into their incinerator.  This was a precursor to a planned biosolids unloading station that was scheduled for design to replace their aging incinerator.  The Seepex cake pump did everything they expected it would.  In 2014 they proceeded with designing and then constructing their new uploading station based on using two Seepex hopper style progressive cavity pumps to move their cake from a pair belt presses and centriguges more than 300 feet horizontally and 30 feet vertically to their two unloading truck bays.  The City of Holland totally revamped their solids dewatering building with new FKC Screw Presses and Seepex cake pumps.  Both Flint and Holland hanve since installed several more Seepex progressive cavity pumps on digested sludge and chemical feed process.  Click on here to visit Seepex's website or click contact us if you want one of Hamlett Environmental's knowledgeable representatives to contact you.

CST Aluminum Domes Stop Odors and Duck Swimming

The City of Petoskey has completed a project covering two 50' primary and three 50' final clarifiers with CST aluminum domes. Petoskey and their Engineer (Hubbell, Roth and Clark) worked with Hamlett/CST to first decide what type of covering system would best meet their needs.  CST's flat and domed aluminum covers were evaluated and domes were their choice.  The City had several projects objectives: Odor control, eliminate waterfowl/bird access, overall functionality, minimize maintenance and overall appearance.  All of these objectives were met by CST Covers. Innovative Aeration System provides MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY for Lagoon System

Innovative Aeration System provides MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY for Lagoon System

The City of Coopersville is expanding their facultative lagoon system to an Activated Sludge process. As part of the expansion, a new aeration system is being added to the lagoon cells along with secondary clarifiers and RAS. The Triplepoint MARS retrievable aeration System was selected by OMM Engineering and the Owner as the basis-of-design and is currently being installed by Northwest Kent Mechanical and Triangle Associates Inc. The patented “double bubble” MARS aerator couples the mixing efficiency of a coarse bubble static tube with the high oxygen transfer efficiency of fine bubble diffusers. Individual MARS aerators simply rest at the bottom of the lagoon and utilize the full water depth to maximize aeration and mixing efficiency. Each aerator is accessible and removable for inspection and maintenance from the water surface without having to drain the lagoon. In addition to the highly efficient Triplepoint diffuser system, Coopersville will also be receiving Siemens Turbo Machinery, single stage centrifugal, premium efficiency, blower packages with a Dissolved Oxygen Control System. These 300 HP blower packages will be housed in acoustical enclosures and utilize dual point control to operate the blowers at their optimal efficiency based on “real time” oxygen demand. The capacity of the blower arrangement can be reduced up to 80% of the design capacity based on dissolved oxygen requirements. Aeration control is also based on the “most open valve” principle and header pressure monitoring to meet the oxygen demand while also maintaining optimum air flow dynamics throughout the aeration system. This innovative system will provide Coopersville the ability to handle variable flow and loading from their local Dairy Processor while keeping electrical and operating costs to a minimum. The system is expected to be commissioned in early 2012.

The Cities of Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Monroe, Port Huron, Grandville and Coopersville are realizing big electrical savings with their Howden/Turblex blowers and Aeration Control System.

Howden/Turblex provided ultra-high efficiency, single stage blowers and aeration controls to save these Cities tens of thousands of dollars a year in electricity.  Aside from electrical savings these systems provide precision air delivery for optimum process control. No Fuss, No Mess at South Haven’s New Fish Cleaning Facility

The City of South Haven, MI recently constructed a new public fish cleaning facility at their Black River Park Marina.  Timing could not be better since the King Salmon are running big and plentiful on southern Lake Michigan.  Abonmarche Consulting Engineers developed the facility design and the City purchased two fish cleaning tables from Hamlett Environmental Technologies Company.  Our Model FCS12 incorporates a heavy duty, twin shafted grinder beneath a high quality, stainless steel table to process fish carcasses prior to entering the City’s sanitary sewer system.  Hamlett Environmental has provided more than a half dozen of these tables to other municipalities along the Great Lakes shoreline.

Our FCS tables have proven to be the most reliable and capable of processing the carcasses of those BIG Great Lake’s lunkers.  The table provides several work areas for anglers to fillet and clean their fish and the heavy duty grinder disintegrates the unwanted carcass into bits and pieces that can travel through the sewer system for final processing at the local water reclamation facility.

It is amazing how a well-designed and operated public fish cleaning facility becomes the “center of attraction” at these marinas.  Often you will have large groups of tourists and residents gathering around to watch successful anglers open up their coolers and process their day’s catch.  After each tasty fillet is separated from the carcass, the angler deposits the remains into our “lunker eating” chute.  The rest is history so to speak.  Please click contact us for additional information and good luck landing the big one!!!
